Serving with Purpose: Our Volunteers Experience the Children’s Hunger Fund Poverty Encounter

This past Saturday, our volunteer team had the privilege of participating in the Children’s Hunger Fund Poverty Encounter, and it was far more than a volunteer opportunity—it was a life-changing experience.

From the moment we entered the immersive exhibit, we were invited to step into the daily realities of children and families living in extreme poverty around the world. Through interactive environments and the true stories of children from Guatemala, Haiti, Nepal, and Romania, we gained a deeper understanding of the challenges that millions face every day. The experience is intentionally designed to move people beyond sympathy and into compassion-filled action.

After the tour, we had the opportunity to become part of the solution by serving together. Our volunteers packed food that will be distributed to children and families in need through local church partners. It was a powerful reminder that even small acts of service, when done with love, can have an eternal impact. The Poverty Encounter experience combines education with hands-on service, encouraging participants to respond in practical and biblical ways.

What made the day especially meaningful was serving alongside one another. There was laughter, teamwork, heartfelt conversations, and moments of reflection. We left with grateful hearts, a renewed appreciation for God’s blessings, and a greater commitment to love our neighbors both locally and globally.

As followers of Christ, we are called to care for “the least of these” (Matthew 25:40). This experience reminded us that generosity is more than giving resources—it’s giving our time, our compassion, and our willingness to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

To everyone who volunteered, thank you for saying “yes” to making a difference. Your willingness to serve brought hope to children you may never meet this side of heaven, but whose lives will be touched because you cared.

Together, we didn’t just pack meals—we packed hope.
